Meet AnnA….
Anna and her two children recently moved and had reached out to St. Vincent de Paul for help with beds for her children and clothing for colder temperatures for the family. Two Vincentians from the St. Thomas More Conference met with Anna at her home to learn more about her needs.
Anna works, but a recent car repair hit her finances hard and she needed some help. After meeting with Anna, the Vincentians gave her a voucher to St. Vincent de Paul thrift store to pick out a new dresser, along with a voucher so she could get some new clothes for her children. Beds are often in demand and there are not enough to go around, so they connected her with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit organization that builds beds for children in Appleton. At St. Vincent de Paul, we often partner with other nonprofits to help our neighbors in need, whether it’s Leaven, the Community Clothes Closet or, in this case, Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
As the visit came to an end, the volunteers brought in one bag of groceries and a bag of paper and cleaning supplies for Anna and her family. They were so grateful for all the help St. Vincent de Paul provided at their time of need.
When you donate items to St. Vincent de Paul, shop at their two Appleton stores or give a monetary donation, you are helping neighbors in need right in our own community.
